Hi, I am your box, Dropbox.

Good day and big balls and all hail October!! It’s been awhile that I left this blog, it’s not that I’m busy managing my career, I remain jobless-unemployed, indeed. In this post again, is about tutorial just like the previous one, Tweetdeck. And here they are Cloud service and Dropbox. I’m not sure if some of you are familiar with those things but for those who just a little lag behind about this, this post gonna save your day.

To tell you, current weekend was my convocation day. Yeah it’s a hectic day, parents and friends were crowding all over the places, flowers, teddies, chocolate, photoshoot and etc. and mine? Dad was surprised me with a car key with metal charm plated with Volkswagen logo on it, and I was like what it is? “It’s a Golf, token for your convocation, have a blessed and blissful life, and for your career after this”.

This is a lame fiction. Seriously.

While everyone would bring a camera with them to capture the moment of the day, I choose not to bring any. Knowing that few of my friends would bring their bulky DLSR, so I’m just going to get the copies from them. Now here is the problem, all of us are reside scatteredly here in Peninsula. We used to have this conventional way, passing the thumb drive loaded with bytes of pic in it but that is just impossible now. Email won’t allow the attachment like hundreds of megabytes of the picture files per mail except that you cut into few parts and that must be tiring and time-consuming. Same goes with uploading via web forms. So how are we going to pan out this matter? There is one namely Cloud.

Cloud is a service that caters the lightning speed travel for Son Goku in Dragon Ball from a spot to another. It is also a super-fast transport that beats the fastest bullet speed, the one that connects Beijing-Shanghai.

Son Goku flying Nimbus

Lousy description, huh? Alright, let me get this straight, cloud storage had been introduced to enhance the sharing experience among the computer user. It is designed to link all of your computers together via a single folder which is an easiest way to back up and sync between computers. With this cloud services, there is no more excuses like you left some files in the computer at your workplace and you can’t get it done at home. Thumb-drive seems helpful but what if a day that you just left it at your workplace? Or your computer had been invaded by that ruthless viruses and all of the important files are gone? Not anymore with cloud prowess. To date, 5 best cloud storage services are Dropbox, Amazon Cloud Drive, Windows Live Skydrive, Box and SOS Online Backup.

The one that I'm stumble upon is Dropbox, the best deal compared to others due to its easy file upload features. To use this service, users are required to download the application which appears just like a typical folder in your computer. As the name implies, all you have to do is just drop your file into that mutual box – which only a regular folder - and the file will be uploaded and synced throughout the Dropbox cloud. All the data are accessible for download through the Dropbox website. For me as the jobless actively seeking for an employment, just trash in all of the essential documents in it and I’m free to be like everywhere without bothering to carry the thumb-drive around – though it’s only tiny and short 1.5 inch long – in case I want to apply any vacancies. Dropbox offers 2GB for free, and charges $10 per month for 50GB of storage, or $20 per month for 100GB.

Another feature that is my favorite one goes to its sharing folder option. You can have certain folder to be accessible to others by inviting the Dropbox user collaborates in the desired folder. In other words, you may have your friends sharing some files with you throughout the same folder. Once you get them invited, the folder will be automatically synced with their account and appear in their Dropbox folder on the computer. Sharing experience has never been this great yo!

The other cloud storage that I’ve been using up until now is Google Docs that runs on web forms which uploading process might be a little time-consuming depending on the file size and connection speed. Unfortunately, there is no software that available for desktop application yet. I wonder when is the time would be but it must be awesome to have two of them enable to be integrated.

Long live Dropbox!

LOCATION UNLOCKED

Good Monday and good morning earthlings! It's a fresh Monday for a kickstart..well not really a kickstart, me lost into Monday blues, clumsy me doing some silly things. Crap. Anyway, as the title mentioned above, the location will be unlocked, I'm gonna post few spots that I'm about to leave my footprints on and of course my main motive here is to assemble some people to reach there. TEEHEE!

Pantai Pelindung vs Bukit Pelindung

Ahha! Been there (Pantai Pelindung) this morning (May 9) anticipating for a sunrise, and luckily we made it. It's located somewhere next to Teluk Cempedak, not really a well-known beach compare to TC. Just the name implies, the location is quite hidden though. As for Bukit Pelindung (BP), located on the way road to TC, it's a spot for jogging and downhill bikers. I've been there twice. BP shall offer the view of TC and the whole city of Kuantan at the other side of it. Unfortunately, the last time I've been there with a high hope to see the whole city from the top, it has been restricted for public. Sweat-wasted.

The other tag shows Bukit Pelindung.

Fire ball, shine us with your golden rays

Air Terjun Berkelah

They said it's a must go place before you finish your study here. I've been there..once.

Sungai Lembing

Someone please take me there! I hear a lot about this place, once a well-known town for its tin mining activity but not anymore. Some of my friends keep telling me 'takde apa lah kat sana' when I'm asking them to go there. It can't be 'takde apa lah kat sana' if it was a glorious mining town. I don't know, but googling it up, there's a museum, and another places nearby if I'm not mistaken, Gua Charas and Air Terjun Pelangi. Anyone interested?

Bukit Sulai

Should I include this one? Just a place to spend your leisure time with your mates, all kinds of saving lah (money, time, fuel etc2), the closest spot you can reach within 10 minutes from UMP which guarantee you a view of Universiti Malaysia Pahang from the top. LOL!

There are still other fascinating spots around, but hey, not much time left, ain't it? Next time may be. Yeah..may be. Those are just few that draw my attention. So, who's in?

Tweetdeck - The RT and Tutorial (for Twitter Noob)

Good day, finally all the hectic days are over so got some times to write something on this webby blog (should I call it webby - bersawang??). Let's just go straight forward, this post entitled Tweetdeck, which I'm gonna introduce you to this apps. Don't mistaken me for being lag of current software what so ever, I'm an avid twitter user. So the things started when my uncle @dinjerung just started blogging and involving in twitter, and he's kinda confuse with the twitter function itself and find it rather boring compare to facebook (yep, the vast developed social network globally) and asking me the function of RT, hahahahaaa. Apologized for my big LOL-ing here, I just can't help my self stop mengilai-ngilai when you guys keep complaining on 'RT' on my twitter threads. You uncle (and his kawan kamceng, which you both are the reason why I'm writing today), make sure you study this simple Twitter SOP (Standard Operation Procedure).

Lesson 1: What is Twitter?

Twitter is just another tool of online social media which enables you to update your current status as known as microblogging, composing texts up to 140 characters. It works totally different than Facebook, Twitter used term followers and following, the terms that indicate number of your friends/celebrities/clubs. Followers refer to the number of people that following you (petanda lah ni glamer tak glamer) while following refers to the number of people you follow. To familiarized with Twitter, it also enabled you to tweet your photos and even videos. Another features such as @reply, DM (direct message - more of PM which will not appear in your public timeline), hashtag (#), lists and the one that just crank up your head to deal with, retweet or RT.
Instead monitoring your twitter from the website, you got few alternatives in which you don't have to get on your browser such as 3rd party applications or directly tweeting from your phone. As for me, I opt for 3rd party applications. Damn easy man!!!

Lesson 2: You are everything in a day that I could stick for hours, Tweetdeck!

Who is Tweetdeck? Who? Who? He (refer Tweetdeck to 'he' cause he's the one I've been dating lately, staring at him for hours) is a Twitter client, an Adobe Air desktop application which work the same way as Twitter that enable you to send or receive tweet and view profiles.

LinkSimply click the photos to the Twetdeck webpage

That is my desktop Tweetdeck

And this one is Chromedeck, a Tweetdeck made for Chrome, handsome, ain't he?

Currently, Tweetdeck is made for desktop applications, Chrome, the iLegacy (iPad, iPhone & iPod) and Android platform. The best thing that I love about Tweetdeck is I could split the people I follow into few groups, so make it easier for me to trace the updated activities of them rather than to trace them down on timeline, the tweets possibly can threaded like hundreds in few minutes. See my Chromedeck, I split them into twitterians, tech and news, in fact you can add the column into many columns you wish.

Like you want to have a special column for your girlfriend alone, oh sure u can!! And voila! It's all your girlfriend's tweets without messing with other tweets. A column for Fasha Sandha may be, a column for Lisa Surihani....a column for, yeah..yeah..I know that must be something twirling in your head right now. This is the way you manage your tweets without missing one of them in the timeline. Twitter made to keep ya updated!

Lesson 3: RT, you'll be damned!

Retweet is another feature in Twitter which allows you to to repost a message from another Twitter user, and share it with one's own followers. Remember that I told you there are 2 style of RT the new style and old style. New style RT automatically repost the tweet without edit and old style allows you to write some texts before repost. New style perhaps the one you use in Twitter website. Tweetdeck enables you to do both new and old style. See how it works (from my Chromedeck).

See the circled tweet and the 'Retweet' button below it. Click on it.

The tweet will appear on the compose space at the top of it which provides you the option 'Click to edit' by means the old style retweet or simply hit 'send' for the new style retweet.

This is how your tweet will appear after you click to edit and tadaaa, see your adorable RT letter there and compose your text there. Piece of cake laahh!

and hit send!

Instead of Tweetdeck, there are still many 3rd party applications for Twitter such as Destroy Twitter. But, I find Tweetdeck rather easy to use, simple user interface (Suhaila Sulong pon cakap #tweetdeck best!). New feature released is Deck.ly when just you have a lot to say on Twitter that enables you to tweet more than 140 characters. So you both especially, go get Tweetdeck and experience it on your own. It is more than just a Twitter. Tutorial ends.

Malu bertanya celik jalan.

Aku yakin semua orang pernah dengar peribahasa/ungkapan 'Malu bertanya sesat jalan'. Aku ingat kita kena tukar baru, 'Malu bertanya celik jalan'. Aku melihat, 'malu bertanya sesat jalan' ni menjadikan kau lagi belajar dari kau bertanya dan kau tak sesat. You'll learn from failure you know. Learn from rough. Malu bertanya akan menjadikan kau main redah je nak buat apa-apa, kalau betul, untung lah kau. Kalau kau tersalah redah, hahaha PADAN MUKA! Baru bes, because you got something to reminisce on your long life. Kalau takut sesat baiklah bertanya kan? Baguslah hidup di landasan benar sepanjang masa. Senang je sepanjang jalan. Tak sesat punya, unless yang kau tanya tu sesat jugak. kehkehkeh. So people, don't afraid to commit a single mistake in your life. Mistake should be something you learn from it, but not to live with it.

Aku google 'sesat jalan', keluar gambar ni, credit to the photographer (flickr)
